What’s In The Bag Of Jordan Spieth

What’s In The Bag Of Jordan Spieth

Is Jordan Spieth your golfing idol?

At the tender age of 16, the Texan golfer competed in his PGA Tour debut and tied for 16th place. Just four years later, he got his first win on the PGA Tour, won the Masters and U.S. Open at 21, and the Open Championship at 23.

The three-time Major champion and Ryder Cup star has achieved an awful lot. He only needs a PGA Championship victory to complete the career Grand Slam and join the likes of Bobby Jones, Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods!

Let’s find out what equipment Spieth puts in his bag each week to help him play at his best.

What does Jordan Spieth have in his golf bag?

Jordan Spieth rarely tinkers with his equipment, and has been using Titleist golf clubs from his amateur days right through his (successful) professional career. The only exception is his Scotty Cameron putter and Under Armour apparel and shoes.

Inside his golf bag, Jordan typically has a combination of golf clubs – including drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, and putters. He also opts to play with Titleist golf balls

·         Golf Ball – Titleist Pro V1x

The Titleist Pro V1x golf ball has been the go-to choice for Spieth for a number of years (including the 2015 Masters that he won) and still is to this day.

Though it features the same reformulated 2.0 ZG Process Core and softer cover as the Pro V1, the V1x golf ball provides less spin, which delivers more distance, an improved feel, and greater control.

·         Driver – Titleist TSi3

Jordan Spieth tends not to make golf club changes very quickly – so, as you can imagine, he made quite a statement when he switched from the TS2 and 915 models to the latest TSi3 driver with a Fujikura Ventus Blue 6-X shaft.

Boasting a compact look, more forgiveness, and adjustability, the Titleist TSi3 driver is better suited to lower handicap players. When custom-fitted, it produces longer and straighter shots than its TS predecessor.

·         Fairway Wood – Titleist TS2

Whilst many PGA Tour players upgrade their equipment when brands reveal their latest models, Spieth continues to use older clubs – mainly because he’s familiar with them.

Currently, he uses the Titleist TS2 fairway wood with a 15-degree loft and Fujikura Ventus Blue 7-X shaft, after using the 915F for several years. Featuring Speed Chassis technology, and shifting the weight lower to improve ball speeds and distances with every swing, it’s no wonder the American golfer plays with the TS2 fairway wood.

·         Hybrid – Titleist 818 H2

Spieth’s hybrid of choice is usually an older model – the Titleist 818 H2 with a 21-degree loft and Graphite Tour AD DI-95X shaft, to be precise. However, it’s worth noting that he alternates between the trusty 818 H2 hybrid and T200 2-iron, depending on the course conditions.

The 818 H2 provides player-preferred launch, precise distance, and iron-like control, which is perfect for golfers like Jordan Spieth who have a steeper delivery to the ball and enjoy the look of an iron.

·         Irons – Titleist T100

At the 2021 Open Championship, Jordan Spieth put the new T200 2-iron in his bag, as well as a set of T100 irons.

The T200 irons are often cycled in and out, whilst the T100 golf irons with a True Temper Dynamic Gold Project X 6.5 shaft have a permanent place in his bag. The T100 looks very much like a blade, but offers the forgiveness of a cavity-back iron. It provides a precise flight and fully forged feel, along with improved shot-shaping and stopping power.

·         Wedges – Titleist Vokey SM9

Tucked away in his golf bag, the three-time Major winner has four Titleist Vokey SM9 wedges. These come in 46, 52, and 56-degree lofts, and one of them is a prototype 60-degree model, which has remained in his club set-up since the 2020 Players Championship.

Whilst retaining the classic Vokey look at address, the SM9 wedges provide more spin and short-game precision than any other model – helping to improve scores.

·         Putter – Scotty Cameron Circle T 009

Spieth has been using the same Scotty Cameron putter for 10 years on the bounce, and shows no signs of swapping any time soon. This has long been his favourite putter, having watched Adam Scott and Geoff Ogilvy use it when he was a junior.

As with all Scotty Cameron putters, every aspect has been meticulously created so the T 009 sits perfectly flush to the ground. The black sightline and sliver mist finish also make alignment easy, allowing for more accurate putts.
