ODYSSEY CHIPPERS
If chipping isn’t your strong suit and you feel like something aside from a traditional wedge would suit you better, Odyssey Chippers are here for you.
A hybrid-inspired feel gives this club the look and feel of a putter, while offering the loft and advantages of a wedge or short iron, giving you the best of both worlds.
So when it comes to those final shots around the green, why not make things much simpler and try an Odyssey Chipper? Perfect for high-handicappers and those who can’t stand traditional chips.
What makes Odyssey Golf Chippers so unique?
Step sole design: The step sole reduces harsh connections with the ground at address. Odyssey borrowed this technology from its fairway wood designs that are hugely respected in the golf industry, for a smooth, stress-free shot every time.
Polymer face insert: Similarly to an Odyssey putter, the Chipper features a polymer face insert that creates a softer feel on impact, along with carefully placed durable grooves for more consistent spin and roll en route to the hole.
Longer grip design: However you prefer to hold the club for chip shots, the longer grip lets you play the shot your way, while enhancing control and stability.
Alignment aids: Much like your favourite putters, some models of Odyssey Chippers feature alignment aids, helping you secure the correct path for your golf ball before it even hits the green.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most wedges look exactly the same as standard golf irons, with faces angled to lift the ball higher off the deck.
Odyssey Chippers take an entirely different visual approach with a new hybrid shape and lie angle. Their heads look like a combination of hybrids and putters, while the clubfaces have a fixed loft of around 37 degrees - not dissimilar to a 9 iron.
The updated shape means they’re designed to be used with a putting-style stroke that offers streamlined contact and better turf interaction, propelling the ball towards the pin, helping you achieve lower scores. This style of chipping is ideal if you're in a tight lie or if you're looking for cleaner contact and more confidence from a new chipper.

Yes. If, like countless others, you’re a beginner golfer and you struggle with greenside chipping, an Odyssey Chipper could be the difference-maker you’ve been looking for.
Because you’re only expected to perform a forward-and-back putting-style stroke, as opposed to a more elaborate chip you’d see if using a short iron or traditional wedge, the whole process is made much easier.
These clubs also reduce the risk of chunking or blading your shots, making them especially useful if you’re prone to these common mishits.
-
You could. But we wouldn’t recommend it.
Odyssey Chippers are designed specifically to help your ball get up and onto the green when you’re already close by. If you’re any further than 40 yards from the pin, you’re probably best using a short iron or wedge to give your golf ball the extra few yards it needs.
However, if you’re looking for a club to complement your short shots with fantastic ground contact even in longer grass, the Odyssey Chipper will serve you well.

“Need” is a strong turn of phrase. Technically, nobody needs a chipper in their bag if they’re able to use traditional wedges and short irons in the way the shot calls for.
But if you want to make things a little easier on yourself and improve your performance around the green, a good chipper will definitely come in handy.
