Four-time Major winner, Rory McIlroy MBE, is the idol of golfers old and new.
Whilst fans are constantly looking out for his name on the scoresheet and their TV screens, many are also curious as to what he carries in his golf bag for European and PGA Tours.
The maximum number of clubs any golfer can take onto the course is 14 – including a combination of drivers, fairways, irons, putters and wedges. They’re also welcome to pack a spare change of clothes (ideal in case they get caught in a rain shower), refreshments, an umbrella, towel and sun cream.
What does Rory McIlroy have in his golf bag?
McIlroy signed with TaylorMade back in 2017, joining the likes of Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Collin Morikawa and Scottie Scheffler, to name just a few. Still to this day he plays a full bag of TaylorMade equipment.
Let’s take a closer look at the golf clubs and ball the Northern Irishman has in his bag for the 2022 season:
· Golf Ball – TaylorMade TP5X
Rory’s golf ball of choice is one of the new TP5X models.

Whilst there are various loft options available, Rory uses 15 degrees and 19 degrees, with Fujikura Ventus Black 8-X and 9-X shafts.

· Iron – TaylorMade P790
Throughout his successful career, McIlroy has always gravitated towards longer irons – and this year, he’s opted for the P790 irons.

After using TaylorMade’s Milled Grind 2’s for a while, the Irishman has opted to use two newer MG3 wedges in 2022 – the 54 and 58 degree models with Project X 6.5 shafts.
These incorporate RAW Face Micro-Ribs which provide consistent spin. Even in the wettest of conditions, the face will maintain its premium look.
· Putter – TaylorMade Spider X
To hit decent putts, you need to make sure that you get your stroke spot-on, and this is something that Rory McIlroy is well aware of. That’s why he opted to add the TaylorMade Spider X Hydro Blast Flow Neck to his golf bag.
