As far as golf competitions go, you’re unlikely to see one as nail-biting and tense (in more ways than one) as the 2025 Ryder Cup.
Team Europe opened to a sensational lead over Team USA, but the event was marred in controversy as the American fans began heckling some top names on the opposing team.
In the end, it was all for nothing, as Team Europe maintained their lead at Bethpage Black Golf Course, with Shane Lowry securing the retaining putt with a Birdie on the eighteenth hole.
Speaking of the crowd, former World Number One Rory McIlroy was one of the players targeted by hostile fans, with a clip of him using explicit language to silence them quickly going viral online. Other than that, though, it was a stellar performance from the Irishman, as expected.
But what golf clubs did Rory use during his winning effort? Clarkes Golf has all the answers for you…
Rory McIlroy Clubs: Ryder Cup 2025
Driver: TaylorMade Qi10 Driver

A hugely popular driver on tees around the world, the TaylorMade Qi10 has quickly become a favourite of both amateurs and professionals, thanks to its combination of impressive distance and forgiveness. Rory switched to the driver early in 2024.
With a higher moment of inertia (MOI) than its predecessor, it’s incredibly resistant to twisting on mis-hits, making it the perfect choice in high-pressure matches where accuracy is everything.
Plus, the Infinity Carbon Crown and 60X Carbon Twist Face help increase ball speeds and club speeds, for shots that fly fiercely off the tee.
It’s a great choice for anyone with a mid-handicap or lower, but it’s been doing the trick for Rory for some time now.
Fairway Woods: TaylorMade Qi10 Fairways (3-wood and 5-wood)

Jam-packed with all the same aesthetic delights and tech as the Qi10 Driver, it’s no surprise Rory chose the same line of clubs for his fairways.
You’ll also find a strategically lower centre of gravity compared to previous models, helping you get up and under the golf ball so it glides off the deck seamlessly.
The new V-Steel Sole also improves turf interaction, making it an easy pick if you struggle with your fairway strikes but want to retain plenty of distance on the way to the green.
Driving Iron: TaylorMade P760
For his long iron, Rory again opted for a TaylorMade release. Understandable, given he’s a member of the brand’s growing stable!
The P760 long irons feature a hollow body, forged with an ultra-thin face. However, the hollow body has been injected with special SpeedFoam – a polyurethane material designed to increase ball speed, as well as produce a more pleasing feel and sound.
Irons (5-9): TaylorMade "Rors Proto" Blade Irons
Naturally, given his level of prominence in the sport, Rory is in the elite class of players who can have clubs customised to his precise requirements – and that’s exactly what he got with his set of “Rors Proto” blades.
Prioritising workability over feel and forgiveness, these irons are forged from soft 1-25 carbon steel, for the knife-through-butter feel that players can’t resist.
A compact, sleek profile with a thinner topline was a particular request from Rory, helping him as he looked down at the ball, for advanced shot shaping.
Wedges: TaylorMade Milled Grind 5 Wedge

Advertised as the “first ever fully-forged wedge”, the TaylorMade MG5 offers an unbeatable feel on impact, thanks to the soft carbon steel.
But it’s the club face that’s the real scene stealer; the new Saw-Milled Grooves are much deeper than standard, offering exceptional spin control that actually pushes the legal limits of club design.
Speaking of spin control, the face also features Spin Tread technology that keeps water droplets away from the face, letting you retain spin control even in wet conditions.
Putter: TaylorMade Spider Tour X

At the 2025 Ryder Cup, Rory McIlroy once again relied on his trusty TaylorMade Spider Tour X Putter.
A mallet-style putter that’s become a hot topic the world over, Rory McIlroy plays with this putter to sink those all-important putts, and has done so for years now with fantastic results.
We’ve gone into great detail on this club – and why it definitely belongs in your bag – in our previous blog. Read all about Rory McIlroy’s TaylorMade Spider Tour X Putter here.
