Believe it or not, the likes of Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson were putting the SIM 2 hybrid through its paces without any of us even knowing. In fact, Johnson had two in play when he won the Travelers Championship in June 2020!

What makes the TaylorMade SIM 2 hybrids special?

At first glance, the SIM 2 hybrid is like no other stylish golf club from TaylorMade and has retained a similar shape and style to last year’s SIM rescues. But there is a lot of modern technology behind their latest release.

Tom Bystedt, Senior Director of Product Creation, stated that the brand had been working hard to take all the best elements of their hybrids and put them into a new club. To really nail the launch conditions, they had to secretly test the SIM 2 hybrid to get feedback and make sure that it ticked all the right boxes. Hence why tour players were trialling them out.

There are two types of TaylorMade SIM 2 hybrids:

  • SIM 2
  • SIM 2 Max

The fact that there are two hybrids within the TaylorMade SIM 2 range enables them to accommodate the needs of all players – be it PGA tour professionals AND golfers with high handicaps.

Much flatter than the TaylorMade SIM 2 Max hybrids, the SIM 2 rescue is similar to an iron – making it an excellent choice for golfers who tend to hit down on their hybrid shots. It has a completely different leading edge, sole and centre of gravity (CG) than the Max offering and allows more workability. What’s more, the SIM 2 hybrid has an adjustable hosel that enables you to achieve your desired hit and also provides more iron-like ball flight.

SIM 2 Max hybrids, on the other hand, have a wider head which means they are ideal for golfers who often sweep their hybrids off the deck with less turf impact. In comparison to last year’s models, the sole has been totally redesigned – strategically moving the weight to lower CG and increase forgiveness.
