Arguably the biggest innovation on the Callaway XR driver is the Speed Step Crown which creates less drag by holding air closer to the clubhead through the downswing. Thanks to the Speed Step Crown and optimised aerodynamic head shape, the XR driver can slice through the air effectively and deliver ball speeds up to 5mph faster than any other.
The Callaway XR Speed driver incorporates R Moto technology which reduces 10% of face weight to make it thinner. R Moto technology transfers energy across the face efficiently and allows the centre of gravity to be 17% lower (where most golfers want it). This delivers higher MOI (Motion of Inertia), meaning the driver is more stable and resistant to twisting – translating to more ball speed and straighter shots.
Unlike other Callaway drivers, the only adjustments that can be made to the XR Speed driver are in the shaft. The XR comes with the Project X LZ shaft that produces maximum shaft load during the downswing loading zone – ensuring greater energy transfer to the ball.
